Static on the Line
  • Are all cords connected to the phone properly?
  • Is the power supply plugged in properly?
  • Try switching the old phone cables with new phone cables.
  • If the static sounds very loud, like a jet taking off, the device has gone bad. The phone must be replaced.
  • If you have a BPA 410 or BPA 430, activate alternate Line port and move LAN and phone cables.
Echo on the Line
One-Way Audio
I Can Make Outbound Calls But Not Receive Inbound Calls
  • Verify 8X8 owns the number and that it has not been ported out to another company.
  • Check for any Hubs, switches, splitters, etc.
  • Set static IP/DMZ.
  • Disable router firewalls.
Blinking Power Light
  • Do you have an active Internet connection?
  • Are all cords connected to the phone properly?
  • Check firmware.
  • Check for multiple routing devices.
  • Check for a VPN.
  • Change Ethernet cables.
  • Power-cycle your network.
  • Hard reset.
  • Run a Ping test.
  • Set static IP/DMZ.
  • Disable router firewalls.
  • If you have a DSL basic modem that requires a username and password to connect to the internet, and you have a UIP160P, UIP165P, UIP1868P, BPG 510, or Tango, enter the PPPoE username and password in to the 8X8 equipment.
Link/Service/Call Agent Light is not Lit
  • Do you have an active Internet connection?
  • Are all cords connected to the phone properly?
  • Check firmware.
  • Check for multiple routing devices.
  • Check for a VPN.
  • Change Ethernet cables.
  • Power-cycle your network.
  • Hard reset.
  • Run a Ping test.
  • Set static IP/DMZ.
  • Disable router firewalls.
  • If you have a DSL basic modem that requires a username and password to connect to the internet, and you have a UIP160P, UIP165P, UIP1868P, BPG 510, or Tango, enter the PPPoE username and password in to the 8X8 equipment.
  • If you have a UIP160P, UIP165P, UIP1868P, BPG 510, or Tango, connect directly to the modem.
Phone Does Not Ring or Has Dialing Delays
  • Verify all cord connections.
  • Check for any Hubs, switches, splitters, etc.
  • Power-cycle your network.
  • Set static IP/DMZ.
  • QoS if available.
  • Disable router firewalls.
  • Run a Ping test.
  • If you have a UIP160P, UIP165P, UIP1868P, BPG 510, or Tango, connect directly to the modem.
Device Overheating
  • Are all cords connected to the phone properly?
  • Verify power supply.
  • Change phone cables.
No Dial Tone
  • Do you have an active Internet connection?
  • Are all cords connected to the phone properly?
  • Check firmware.
  • Check for multiple routing devices.
  • Check for a VPN.
  • Change Ethernet cables.
  • Power-cycle your network.
  • Hard reset.
  • Run a Ping test.
  • Set static IP/DMZ.
  • Disable router firewalls.

  • Change phone.
  • If you have a BPA 410 or BPA 430, activate alternate Line port and move LAN and phone cables.
  • If you have a UIP160P, UIP165P, UIP1868P, hard reset the Handset.
All Lights on 8x8 Equipment Blinking
  • Hard reset.
  • Check firmware.
Invalid Activation Code Error Message
  • Check firmware.
Active Device Asking for Activation Code (BPA 410 or BPA 430)
  • Move the phone cord to other Line port and test.
XRM Replacement Equipment Receiving Activation Code IVR After Replacing MAC ID
