8x8 Work for Desktop Application Crashing on Mac


On macOS, Work for Desktop crashes on startup or when attempting to make a call, typically with the following error: Work for Desktop has closed unexpectedly.

Uninstall and Reinstall Work for Desktop

  1. In Finder, navigate to Applications.
  2. Click Utilities.
  3. Find and run Adobe AIR - Uninstaller.
  4. Uninstall Work for Desktop.
  5. Download the latest version of Work for Desktop.
  6. Re-install Work for Desktop.


This crash may be caused by a separate installation of Adobe AIR being present on the machine, which conflicts with the Adobe AIR baked into the Work for Desktop installation file.
