Missing Play Button When Listening to Audio Files on Agent Workspace Monitoring Tool

Symptom 

Blank text box or an outline of a box with a red X in the corner where the Windows Media Player play-box should be, in Contact Center Configuration Manager or in the Playback section of the Monitoring Windows within the Agent Workspace.

  • Contact Center Configuration Manager
  • Windows Media Player 

Resolution 

Setting Windows Media Player as the default audio player. Open the Default Program configuration window and select Windows Media Player as the default for audio files.

Windows XP

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Set Programs and Defaults.

Windows Vista/7

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Default Programs.
  3. Click Set your default programs.

Windows 10

  1. Click Start.
  2. Search Default App Settings.
  3. Click the currently selected program under Music player and select Windows Media Player as the replacement.

Note: If you have a Custom configuration, you need to expand it and choose Windows Media Player as your Default Media Playback application. 

Save any settings changes, then close the browser, re-launch it and attempt to listen to an audio file/voice recording; the Windows Media Player playbox should now be available.

Cause 

Windows Media Player is not configured as the default media player.
