SMS Feature Unavailable in 8x8 Admin Console for a Temporary Phone Number

Question

Why doesn't SMS work when I have a temporary local phone number?

Or,

Why doesn't SMS work when my phone number is "pending" port process?

Answer

When a temporary number is assigned to a user license (X2 and above), the SMS feature is not provisioned for that user until the port-in process has completed.

Once the port-in process is completed, SMS will work with the new port-in number.
