How to Forward Calls from a Virtual Number to an External Number Using an Auto Attendant in 8x8 Admin Console

Objective

Forwarding a virtual number to an external number.

Procedure

When you edit or create your Auto Attendant, you can set up forwarding options in your Auto Attendant menu.

  1. Log in to 8x8 Admin Console.
  2. Click Auto Attendants.
  3. Click + Create Auto Attendant.
  4. Fill in your Auto Attendant Details. The following fields are required to configure your Auto Attendant:
    1. Name
    2. Site
    3. Time Zone
    4. Language
    5. Schedule
  5. Add the Virtual Number.

  6.  Click Open hours menu tab.
  7. Click Edit Settings

  8. Disable the Allow callers to dial an extension.

  9. If user inputs on key, replay menu Input (0 times).
  10. And then choose Route Call to.
  11. Enter the external number you wish to forward to.
  12. Save changes.
  13. Test to make sure that it is routing correctly.
