Setting up Call Flow for Outbound-Only Extensions
When setting up call flow for an outbound-only extension, you can set the outbound caller ID to the main company number. Learn more here.
Extensions that are intended for outbound-calling-only require some special consideration. The most common use case is setting up extensions in conference rooms.
When setting up call flow for an outbound-only extension, you have several options:
- Set the outbound caller ID to the main company number so that calls go to the business instead of the individual extension.
- Block the outbound caller ID for the extension so that no one dials the extension directly.
- Forward the extension to another extension if there is no answer (e.g., the receptionist's extension).
- Change the voicemail greeting to notify callers that the voicemail box for that extension is unmonitored and turn on Announcement-Only mode.
Although you could set the extension to always forward to voicemail, it's not recommended because then you will be unable to call in to the conference phone. This could make joining Virtual Office Meetings difficult.
