Configuring Google SSO in Admin Console

Objective

Configure Google SSO to allow users to log in to 8x8 services using their Google email address.

  • Google SSO

Procedure 

Enable Google SSO 

This section must be completed by a user with administrative access to Admin Console.

  1. Log in to Admin Console as an administrator.
  2. Click Identity and Security.
  3. Under Single Sign-On Integration (SSO), ensure the toggle is set to enabled (blue).
  4. Under Select your identify provider, click to select Google.
  5. Click Save.

Configure Google SSO for Individual Users

This can be completed by users with administrative access to 8x8 Admin Console, or by the end-user through 8x8 Work Desktop > Settings > Account Settings > Single Sign-On (SSO).

User Profile Configuration

  1. From the Admin Console menu, select Users.
  2. To the right of the desired user, select Edit (pencil icon).
  3. Go to the Single Sign-On (SSO) section.
  4. Enter the user's Google ID.
  5. Select Save.

User Login to 8x8 Work

Once all of the above is properly configured, the user can log into 8x8 Work apps using their Google credentials:

  1. Log in to Work for Desktop as the selected user.
  2. Select Use Single Sign On.
  3. Select Continue.
  4. Select Log in using Google.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Enter the password and select Sign In.
  7. If applicable, enter the Google 2-Step Verification code.
  8. Select Done.

Sync with Google Calendar

This should be completed by the end-user in Work for Desktop.

  1. Log in to Work for Desktop.
  2. Click Settings (gear) > Calendar and status.
  3. Click Sync Google Calendar.
  4. Select a Google account to sync.
  5. Enter the Google account password.
  6. Click Next.
  7. If applicable, enter the 2-Step Verification code.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Allow.
