Question

Applies To

  • Work for Desktop
  • 8x8 Meet

Answer

No, extensive testing has uncovered no exploitable vulnerabilities when using Work for Desktop or the 8x8 Meet service. Security remains a top priority, and 8x8 maintains strong, agile, and highly productive external tester relationships to ensure the safety and privacy of our products and users.

Additional Information

In March 2019, a security researcher identified and reported a vulnerability impacting a competitor's popular video conferencing product. This flaw potentially allows malicious websites to enable the camera on any Mac system with the web conferencing product installed.

Within hours of learning of it, the 8x8 security and product teams began analyzing the exploit and potential risk to our meeting applications to ensure we don't have similar issues. After review, 8x8 has confirmed it does not have the same vulnerabilities as those reported for this competitor in our commercial video conferencing products.
