Why am I unable to create a private chat room in Work for Desktop

 

Symptom

The user only has the option to create a Public chat room in Work for Desktop.

  • Work for Desktop
  • Chat

Resolution

This is by design if the user has the property 'Display contact in company directory' disabled. Please enable the property as below.

  1. Log into the Admin Console.
  2. Navigate to Users and locate the affected user.
  3. Enable the property Display contact in company directory' and click 'Save'.
  4. The user then needs to log out of the Work for Desktop application and then back in. They will then have the option to create a Private chat room.
