Unable to Update 8x8 Work

Are you unable to download and install the latest version of 8x8 Work? Uninstall and Reinstall the program to resolve the issue. Learn more.


When attempting to upgrade to the latest version of 8x8 Work using the Check for Updates feature or the in-app upgrade prompt, you are unable to download and install the update.

This may include the warning message A newer version of 8x8 Work already installed. Setup will now exit.

Uninstall then reinstall 8x8 Work.

Uninstall in Windows 

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Control Panel Programs Uninstall a Program, then uninstall 8x8 Work.
  3. Go to My Computer and open C:\Users\{Username}\Appdata\Roaming\.
  4. Delete all files starting with 8x8 (App data might be hidden, you'll have to unhide it).
  5. Delete all cache, cookies, and temporary data from the system.

Uninstall in MacOS

  1. Go to Finder.
  2. Click Applications in the menu on the left.
  3. Find 8x8 Work.
  4. Right-click the application icon and select Move to Trash.
  5. Empty trash.

If you are unable to upgrade 8x8 Work within the app, simply uninstall your current version of the app, then download and install the latest available version.


This may be due to one of the following:

  • You are upgrading from an older version of 8x8 Work that has direct update issues
  • Network issues preventing the update download from completing
