No Ring-Back Tone When Calling Out

If the ring-back tone is not heard before the other party answers when making an outbound call, your extension might be offline. Learn how to fix the issue here.


When making an outbound call, no ring-back tone is heard before the other party answers.

Place Test Calls

To confirm your extension is online, try placing test calls from the affected extension to

  • Your voicemail (Dial 555).
  • Other extensions on your 8x8 system.

If successful, try calling two or three phone numbers out of your 8x8 network again.

No resolution?

Create a case with 8x8 Technical Support.


Your extension may be offline (if the other party does not answer).

In other cases, this may indicate a possible carrier issue.
