Yealink IP Phones Support Overview
Note: Accommodation of devices not purchased from and originally provisioned for service by 8x8 is best-effort. These devices are not guaranteed to be supported on 8x8 service.
These steps include instructions on how to perform basic functions (both through the phone’s web interface and directly in the phone menu) for Yealink SIP IP phones.
Accessing the web GUI and phone Administrator Menu will require the phone's administrator password.
Known Issues
Currently, there is no support for customers adding third party Yealink DECT wireless phones to their 8x8 service.
Access web GUI
T23 IP Phone
- Ensure the phone is plugged in.
- Obtain the phone's IP address (on phone, press OK key to see IP address).
- Obtain phone password (if provisioned).
- On a computer on the same network as the phone, open a web browser.
- In the browser address bar, enter: https://<phone IP address> and press Enter.
Note: You must manually enter https or the browser will not resolve the web page.
- Log in with username admin and phone password (or admin if phone is not yet provisioned).
W52P DECT Phone
- On the Yealink DECT handset, press OK to access the menu.
- Go to Menu > Status > Base.
- Obtain the IP address and MAC address of the base unit.
- Obtain the phone's MAC password.
- Log in to the DECT web GUI using the IP address obtained in step 3.
- Username: admin
- Password: MAC password from step 4.
Capture Phone Screen
Note: Frequent screen captures may affect phone performance. It is recommended that you capture the phone's screen display within a minimum interval of four seconds.
Enable in Web GUI
Before your computer is able to capture the phone screen, you must enable the computer's IP address in the phone web GUI. You should only have to do this once per computer attempting screen capture. (To obtain the computer's IP address, open a command prompt, type ipconfig, and press Enter.)
- Log in to the phone's web GUI.
- Click the Features tab.
- From the left-hand menu, click Remote Control.
- In the Action URL allow IP List, enter the computer's IP address.
- Click Confirm.
- Continue below to capture screen.
Capture Screen in Web Browser
- In web browser address bar, enter: https://<phone IP address>/screencapture
- If this is the first time capturing this phone’s current screen using this computer, the browser will display Remote control forbidden, and the LCD screen will prompt Allow remote control? On the phone screen, press OK.
- On phone, navigate to the screen you wish to capture.
- In the browser, refresh the web page to display an image of the current phone screen.
- Right click on image to copy/paste or save to computer.
- To capture another shot, navigate to the desired screen on the phone and refresh web browser.
Check Device Certificate
A valid device certificate is required for any phone to work with 8x8 service.
- On phone, press OK.
- Scroll down and select 4. More.
- Select 2. Phone.
- Scroll down to 6. Device Cert. It should be followed by the scrolling text: Factory Installed. If there is no certificate installed, the phone cannot be provisioned for service.
Check Firmware
From phone menu
- OK > 3. Firmware (Note: The MAC address is noted with colons in between pairs of characters, but these can be ignored.)
From the web GUI
- Log in to the web GUI.
- The Firmware Version is noted on the Status tab (first page upon login) under Version.

Check IP Address
T23 IP Phone
- On the phone, press OK key.
- The IP address is the first entry on the list. It will be noted as IPv4: <IP address>.
W52P DECT Phone (Base)
- On the Yealink DECT handset, press OK to access the menu.
- Go to Menu > Status > Base.
- The IP address of the base unit will be noted.
Check MAC Address
Note: The MAC address is typically located on a label on the underside of a network/IP device.
From phone menu
- T23P IP Phone: OK > 2. MAC (Note: The MAC address is noted with colons in between pairs of characters, but these can be ignored.)
- W52P DECT Phone (Base): OK > Menu > Status > Base (Note: The MAC address is noted with colons in between pairs of characters, but these can be ignored.)
From the web GUI
- Log in to the web GUI.
- The MAC Address is noted on the Status tab (first page upon login) under Network Common.

- Ensure the appropriate provisioning url is entered.

Create a PCAP Trace
Use these steps if we need an end user to provide a PCAP trace to help analyze their issue.
To export a PCAP trace
- Log in to the phone's web GUI.
- Click Settings > Configuration.
- Click Start to begin capturing signal traffic.
- Recreate/Replicate the error to be captured in the trace.
- Click Stop to stop the capture.
- Click Export to open file download window, and then save the file to your local system.
Enable SRTP
Users can enable SRTP to encrypt the audio stream(s) of phone calls. The parties participating in the call should enable SRTP on a per-line basis. Click here for more on 8x8's optional SRTP service.
To enable SRTP on a per-line basis via the web GUI
- Log in to the phone's web GUI.
- Click Account > Advanced.
- From the Account pull-down, select the desired account.
- From the RTP Encryption (SRTP) pull-down, select either Optional or Compulsory.
- Click Confirm to accept the changes.

Export System Log
Use these steps if we need an end user to provide a system log to help analyze their issue.
To export a system log to a local PC:
- Log in to the phone web GUI.
- Click Settings > Configuration.
- From the System Log Level pull-down, select 6. (Default level is 3.)
- Click Confirm to accept the change.
- For Export System Log, select Local.
- Click Export to open file download window, and then save the file to your local system.
Note: The system log can also be exported to a syslog server. Contact the system administrator for more information.
- When the export is complete, reset the System Log Level to the default value of 3.
- Click Confirm.
Factory (Hard) Reset
Do not perform a factory reset to address call quality issues!
Restoring a phone to factory defaults is generally not recommended as a troubleshooting step except as a last resort!
Factory Reset from Phone Menu:
Note: Phone must already be activated to factory reset on phone.
- On the phone, press Menu > Settings > Advanced Settings.
- Enter phone password.
- Select Reset to Factory.
- Press the Enter soft key.
- The LCD screen will display a warning. To continue, press the OK soft key.
- The LCD screen will display Resetting to factory, please wait…
- The LCD screen will display Welcome Initializing… please wait.
- The phone will restart, which may take a few minutes. Do not power off the phone until it has started up successfully. On restart, it will be reset to factory settings.
Factory Reset from Web GUI
- Log in to the phone web GUI.
- Click Settings tab.
- From the left-hand menu, click Upgrade.
- Click the Reset to Factory Setting button.
- In the confirmation pop-up, click OK.
- Both the browser and phone screen will display resetting messages.
- The phone LCD screen will display Welcome Initializing… please wait.
- The phone will restart, which may take a few minutes. Do not power off the phone until it has started up successfully. On restart, it will be reset to factory settings.
- The browser will return to the web GUI login page.
Factory (Hard) Reset for Yealink DECT Phones
Do not perform a factory reset to address call quality issues!

Note: This process is for Yealink DECT phones only.
- On the Yealink DECT handset, press OK to access the menu.
- Go to Menu > Status > Base.
- Obtain the IP address and MAC address of the base unit.
- Obtain the phone's MAC password.
- Log in to the DECT web GUI using the IP address obtained in step 3.
- Username: admin
- Password: MAC password from step 4.
- In the web GUI, go to Phone > Upgrade > Reset to Factory.
- Click Reset Now to reset the base unit.
- After the factory reset is complete, log in to the web GUI again using the following credentials:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
- In the web GUI, go to Phone > Auto Provision > Provisioning Server.
- Enter the production provisioning url: https://ylcfg.8x8.com/yealinkdect
- Click Autoprovision Now.
Restart/Reboot Phone
One sure method for restarting the phone is to simply unplug it from the power source (either the power adapter or PoE cable), then plug it back in.
Via phone menu: Menu > Settings > Advanced Setting (enter password) > Reboot.
Set SNTP Time Server (Time & Date)
The time and date are displayed on the LCD screen when the phone is idle. You can configure the phone to obtain the time and date from the SNTP server automatically, or configure the time and date manually.
Configure SNTP From Phone
- Press Menu > Settings > Basic Settings > Time & Date > SNTP Settings.
- In the Time Zone field, press

(or the Switch soft key) to select the time zone that applies to your area. (The default time zone is +8.)
- When you have found the appropriate time zone, press the down arrow button.
- For NTP Server1, enter 0.pool.ntp.org, then press the down arrow button.
- For NTP Server2, enter 1.pool.ntp.org, then press the down arrow button.
- In the Daylight Saving field, press

(or the Switch soft key) to select the desired value, then press the down arrow button.
- (Only if Daylight Saving is set to Automatic.) In the Location field, press
or
(or the Switch soft key) to select the desired time zone name, then press the down arrow button.
- Press the Save soft key to accept the change, or the Back soft key to cancel.
Manually Configure Time and Date From Phone
- Press Menu > Settings > Basic Settings > Time & Date > Manual Settings.
- Enter the specific date in the Date (YMD) field.
- Enter the specific time in the Time (HMS) field.
- Press the Save soft key to accept the change.
Configure Time and Date Format From Phone Menu
- Press Menu > Settings > Basic Settings > Time & Date > Time & Date Format.
- In the Time Format field, press

(or the Switch soft key) to select the desired time format (12 Hour or 24 Hour).
- When you have found the appropriate time format, press the down arrow button.

Configure Time and Date From Web GUI
- Log in to the phone's web GUI.
- Click the Settings tab.
- From the left-hand menu, click Time & Date.
- Configure as desired.
- For NTP Server1, enter 0.pool.ntp.org, then press the down arrow button.
- For NTP Server2, enter 1.pool.ntp.org, then press the down arrow button.
- Click Confirm to save and apply changes.
If date and time continue to flash:
The SNTP may not be able to reach the designated time server. Instead of pool.ntp.org, try setting one of the following IP addresses:
15.185.186.215
204.2.134.163
204.2.134.164
209.114.111.1
Or ping pool.ntp.org and use the reply address as the SNTP address. (If you can't ping pool.ntp.org, using open DNS may also help.)
Set Static IP
Before you begin
- Obtain phone password.
- Determine a static IP address to assign to the phone, subnet, and default gateway.
- If available, consult customer's IT admin.
- If phone is provisioned and active on network, best practice is to use the IP address already assigned to it.
Set in Phone Web GUI (Recommended)
- In a web browser, enter the phone's IP address.
- Log in as admin and enter password.
- Click to open Network tab.
- Confirm Internet Port Mode is IPv4 or IPv6), then continue to configure appropriate section.
- Under the appropriate section (IPv4 or IPv6), select Static IP Address.
- Enter IP Address.
- Enter Subnet Mask.
- Enter Gateway.
- For Static DNS, select Off.
- For Primary DNS, enter: 192.84.18.11
- For Secondary DNS, enter: 8.28.0.9
- At the bottom of the screen, click Confirm.
- Wait for phone to reboot. If it does not reboot, verify the information, then manually power-cycle the phone.
Set on Phone
- Press Menu > Settings > Advanced Settings (default password: admin) > Network > WAN Port.
- Using the

keys , make sure that the IP address mode is configured as either IPv4 or IPv4 & IPv6.
- Press
to select IPv4 and then press the Enter soft key.
- Press
to select Static IPv4 Client and then press the Enter soft key.
- Enter the values for each of the following:
- IPv4: (Static IP address)
- Subnet Mask
- Default Gateway
- IPv4 Pri. DNS: 192.84.18.11
- IPv4 Sec.DNS: 8.28.0.9
- Press the Save soft key to accept the change, or the Back soft key to cancel.

- Verify SIP Server 1 address is ???? (awaiting server address).
If phone does not pull config file due to DNS issues
- Remove DNS resolved name.
- Replace SERVER1 with IP: 192.84.18.160 (To verify: nslookup pccfg.8x8.com)
- Under “NETWORK CONFIGURATION,” replace DNS SERVER with 192.84.18.11 or 8.28.0.9

- What is a Local Conference? Local Conference is how Yealink refers to a conference call. The SIP-T23P/T23G IP phone supports up to 3 parties (including the user) in a conference call.
- What is a user name? A user name is defined by the server and used to identify the account.
- What is a register name? A register name is defined by the server. It is matched with a password to be used for authentication if the server requires.
- What is a display name? The display name is the caller ID that will be displayed on the caller’s LCD screen. (Server configuration may override the local configuration.
