8x8 Express: Handling Virtual Office Mobile Calls Over Cellular Service Instead of Data

Objective

To enable Mobile Assist in order to use Cellular Data (minutes) instead of Mobile Data (WiFi or 3G/4G) if internet coverage is unreliable.

Procedure

iPhone

  1. In Virtual Office Mobile, tap Profile Icon.

  2. Towards the bottom of the next screen, tap Settings.

  3. Tap Data and Network Options.

  4. Tap on Use Mobile Minutes. You'll be taken to the Mobile Assist options screen.

  5. Toggle Mobile Assist On or Off for Incoming and/or Outgoing calls.

    • When Incoming calls is toggled On, you'll be presented with a message box confirming your mobile number. Tap YES to confirm this number, or NO, CHANGE to adjust. If you have never entered a mobile number for your account, you'll be asked to enter one.
    • When Outgoing calls is toggled On, you'll see two further options; Ask me before calling and Always use mobile minutes. Tap these boxes to turn the options on or off.

Additional Information

For calls in progress, you can perform a transfer from your Virtual Office service directly to your cell phone.
