Headset Audio Plays Only On One Side


When listening to a call recording on a mono-based headset, the audio plays only on one side.

Applies To

  • Mono headsets
  • Call recordings
  • Virtual Meetings audio


  • In Windows, go to the Ease of Access center and switch your audio from Stereo to Mono, which flattens both channels into one.
  • On Mac, go to System Preferences > Accessibility > Audio and check the box to Play stereo audio as mono.
  • Optionally, you can use stereo headsets to ensure both audio streams are heard when playing call recordings.


The audio streams used by 8x8 have the Agent and Caller audio on separate streams. Each stream plays in only one ear. The separate streams for audio channels can result in mono-based headsets playing on only one channel.
