Overview

8x8 offers users their option of codecs to select for each extension. Adjusting this option has sometimes been found to be an effective troubleshooting step.

To adjust codecs for multiple extensions

  1. Log in to Account Manager.
  2. Click Phone System.
  3. Click Edit Multiple Extensions > Edit.
  4. On the right-hand panel, scroll all the way to the right (scroll bar on the bottom right of panel). The Preferred Codec column displays on the far right.
  5. Use the pull-down menus to adjust the preferred codec for each extension you wish to change.
  6. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the screen.
  7. The phone(s) should restart within 30 seconds. If they do not, use the phone menu(s) to manually restart.
