Sameroom: How to add the Skype Bridgebot to your Contacts

Objective

This article will show you how to add the Skype Bridgebot to your Skype Contacts list, and then add the bot to a current or new Group Chat.

This process is required due to incompatibilities with Skype login, which prevents adding Skype accounts to Sameroom.

Note-Icon.png Once the bridgebot is added to your Skype contacts, Sameroom tubes can be added, and messaging will work normally. You'll be able to create and change Sameroom tubes in Skype as usual, but Skype will not appear on your Sameroom Accounts page.

Applies To

  • Sameroom Standalone accounts
  • 8x8 Team Messaging

Add the Skype Bridgebot to your Contacts

  1. Log in to the Skype web interface at https://web.skype.com.
  2. Click here to open a new browser tab and initiate adding the Sameroom bot.
  3. Click Add to Contacts.
    • If the contact is not added on the first attempt, click on Add to Contacts again.

  1. Open the chat group you've added the Sameroom bot to.
  2. Type the message: -sameroom help and send it (usually by pressing Enter). You should receive a list of Sameroom commands that are now accessible to you from within this new chat group.
