How are international charges incurred with SIP Trunking?

Question

How are international charges incurred with SIP trunking?

Applies To

  • SIP Trunking
  • International Calls

Answer

Many international destinations, such as Puerto Rico, Guam, and Jamaica, use country code 1—the same country code for the United States. With SIP trunking, even if you have the Domestic Only or Disallow International Calling option enabled, certain international destinations can still be dialed. SIP trunking rejects anything dialed beginning with 011, but you can still call many countries without having to dial 011. Calls set up by pressing the 1 + area code + seven-digit number will lead to international charges if you are calling the areas listed below.
