Why is there no Caller ID for a UK number for calls from a Ring Group, Call Queue, or Auto Attendant?

Question

Why is there no Caller ID for a UK number for calls from a Ring Group, Call Queue, or Auto Attendant?

Applies To

  • Work for Desktop

Answer

Ring groups, call queues, and Auto Attendant calls do not have a contact directory lookup. The caller ID name in the Ring Group settings refers to the caller ID sent/set by the calling party, which is a US service and the UK telephone service (not just 8x8) does not have such a feature.

Additional Information

The only way you will see a caller ID name on a UK call to a Ring Group, Call Queue, Auto Attendant is if it is on-net call.

As of Work for Desktop 7.2 a Ring Group will resolve the caller number to a name using the company directory, if the incoming call does not include a caller name where the Ring Group is configured to display Caller's Name.
