8x8 Work for Desktop Credentials Being Forgotten / Session Time Outs

Symptom

Work for Desktop does not remember the credentials whenever the user has logged out after quitting the application or by shutdown/restart of the system.

Applies To

  • Work for Desktop
  • Internet Explorer
  • Windows OS

Solution

Check if there are files in C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache, if not follow the below:

  1. Open Internet Explorer (IE).
  2. Internet Options > General > Browsing History.
  3. Make sure Delete Browsing History is not ticked. If this is ticked it will delete the cookies every time IE is closed and cause the user to need to input their VOD credentials every time.

Usernames and Passwords for Work for Desktop are usually stored in the following location:

C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\8x8 - Virtual Office\app_cache\{ext}_{pbx}.json
