How do I enable or disable Outbound Calling for an extension?

Note: To configure outbound calling settings for individual extensions in Virtual Office Configuration Manager, click here.

Outbound calling refers to calls made to numbers outside of your 8x8 network (for example, somebody's direct mobile phone number or the restaurant down the street). This setting will not affect a user's ability to dial other internal (on-network) extensions. This procedure requires Account Administrator privileges.

To enable or disable outbound calling

  1. Log in to Account Manager.
  2. Click Phone System > Outbound Calling Options > Configure.
  3. You can configure outbound calling options for your entire PBX, for all extensions, or for individual extensions.
    • To disable outbound calling for your entire PBX, select Only Emergency Calling from the Outbound Calling Options drop-down under PBX DefaultsNote: With this option, no users will be able to make outbound calls.

    • To disable outbound calling for all extensions, select Only Emergency Calling from the Outbound Calling Options drop-down under the Extension Outbound Calling Options section. Note: With this option, no users will be able to make outbound calls.
