External Caller ID Displays Scam Likely

Symptom

When dialing an external phone numbers, your caller ID is displaying as Scam Likely, although it's showing the correct number. This occurs most often when calling a cell phone number.

Applies To

  • Cell phone carriers, mostly T-Mobile and ATT

Resolution

Option 1: Place a test call to a couple of phone numbers with different carriers to see if both carriers are displaying Scam Likely. If it's only one carrier that is displaying Scam Likely, then the issue is with the destination phone number the user is calling. Have the destination number report this issue to their phone carrier to remove the caller's phone number from their carrier's database of unwanted call numbers.

Option 2: Use one of your Virtual Number or Toll Free numbers as your external caller ID.

Option 3: Purchase a new phone number.

Cause
