When using the Virtual Office Mobile for iPhone application over a 4G mobile data connection, you see the following error: Unsupported Network: 8x8 does not support connecting to IPv6 networks. Please switch to a different network or contact 8x8 Support.

You are unable to use the app to make and receive phone calls, or send SMS/instant messages.


Some mobile carriers have begun putting some of their users on a new IPv6 standard to expand network address availability. 8x8 does not currently support IPv6 across all carriers.


Before you begin

Ensure you have installed the latest version of Virtual Office Mobile for iOS.

Connect via Wi-Fi and disable data network use

  1. Ensure your iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network and not to 4G.
  2. Launch the VO Mobile app.
  3. Tap to open the main menu.
  4. Tap Call Mode.
  5. Under Data Network:
    1. Switch Use Wi-Fi ON.
    2. Switch Use 3G/4G/LTE OFF.

Keep in mind, you will only be able to complete phone calls, send/receive messages, and view user presence while connected via Wi-Fi. Outside of a Wi-Fi network, the app's communication functions will not work properly.
