Configuring Google SSO in Admin Console


Configure Google SSO to allow users to log in to 8x8 services using their Google email address.

Enable Google SSO 

This section must be completed by a user with administrative access to Admin Console.

  1. Log in to Admin Console as an administrator.
  2. Click Identity Management.
  3. Click Google SSO.
  4. Select Google.

  5. Under Authentication Methods > Login Options, select the desired login option. To allow your users to log in with their 8x8 credentials and their Google email address, select Both 8x8 username and Single Sign On.
  6. Click Save.

Configure Google SSO for Individual Users

This can be completed by users with administrative access to 8x8 Admin Console, or by the end-user through 8x8 Work Desktop > Settings > Account Settings > Advanced Account Settings.

  1. In the upper left corner, click the menu icon, then click Users.
  2. Click Edit (pencil icon).
  3. Open the Single Sign-On (SSO) section.
  4. Enter the user's Google ID.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Log in to Work for Desktop as the selected user.
  7. Click Use Single Sign On.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Click Log in using Google.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Enter the password and click Sign In.
  12. If applicable, enter the Google 2-Step Verification code.
  13. Click Done.

Sync with Google Calendar

This should be completed by the end-user in Work for Desktop.

  1. Log in to Work for Desktop.
  2. Click Settings (gear) > Calendar for meetings.
  3. Click Sync Google Calendar.
  4. Select a Google account to sync.
  5. Enter the Google account password.
  6. Click Next.
  7. If applicable, enter the 2-Step Verification code.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Allow.
