Missing Play button when trying to listen to audio files or agent recordings on AGUI Monitoring Tool

Overview

If you see a blank text box or an outline of a box with a red X in the corner where the Windows Media Player play-box should be, either in the Configuration Manager or in the Playback section of the Monitoring Windows within the AGUI, chances are Windows Media Player is not configured as your default media player.

Setting Windows Media Player as default audio player

Assuming you have administrative privileges (if you do not, please contact your System Administrator or IT professional), you would need to open the Default Program configuration window and select Windows Media Player as your default for audio files.

Windows XP

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Set Programs and Defaults.

Windows Vista/7

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Default Programs.
  3. Click Set your default programs.

Windows 10

  1. Click Start.
  2. Search Default App Settings.
  3. Click the currently selected program under Music player and select Windows Media Player as the replacement.

Note: If you have a Custom configuration, you need to expand it and choose Windows Media Player as your Default Media Playback application.

Save any settings changes, then close the browser, re-launch it and attempt to listen to an audio file / voice recording; the Windows Media Player playbox should now be available.
