Objective

This article is designed to condense common information into a single source and consolidate individual links from other articles; e.g., a quick reference guide. Information has been parsed from other knowledge-based articles, which may receive updates at any time.

Applies To

Network-Related Links and Information

DNS Options

  • Do not use Google DNS or OpenDNS.
  • When using recommended DNS options, if their ISP is not listed, they should contact their ISP about recommendations.
  • The 8x8 GTMs DNS should only be used if the physical phones are on either a dedicated VLAN or their own entire network with no other device (desktops, laptops, etc.) as they do not allow standard internet traffic and only VOIP/SIP traffic.

Meraki-Specific Settings

  • Make sure SRTP is set to enabled.
  • Hard code 8x8 GTM options anytime possible.
  • Force the phones to go over TLS.

Network Layout Template

  • ISP:
  • Make/Model gateway/modem: (If a gateway, is it in bridge mode or does it have a pinhole to the firewall?)

  • VLAN configurations: (Optional)
  • Is an SD-WAN (or Loop) being run between multiple sites? (Optional)
